This collection consists of two volumes of a typed compilation made by Clarence Mulford Day for the Georgia Historical Society from the original diaries and letters in the Yale University Library and from letters in his possession. Volume 1 is prefaced with a paper on the life and career of Daniel Mulford. The letters, to and from family and friends, and the diaries are very descriptive of people and places in Georgia. In volume 1 are maps of Savannah and Milledgeville. The last papers in volume II pertain to his estate. The last letter, dated Savannah, April 3, 1812, is from Dr. Mary Lavinder of Savannah to Daniel Mulford's sister, Betsey Crane, describing his last illness.

Daniel Mulford (1781-1811) was born in New Providence, New Jersey and graduated from Yale University. He came to Georgia for his health, arriving in Milledgeville in November 1808. He studied law with his friend, John Fitch, in Milledgeville and with John M. Berrien in Savannah, and was admitted to the bar. From the description of Daniel Mulford papers, 1803-1812.
